The Lahti Motorcycle Exhibition 2010, (Lahden moottoripyöränäyttely 2010) was held at Lahti 5.2.-7.2.-2010. Until this year the exhibition has taken place at Helsinki, but because of tight economical situation, this year it was a smaller one at Lahti.
Steam engine was used to commute crowds between The Expedition and railway station. There was a wood burning stove inside a train car to provide warmth.

This is the packing list for longer trips, published on the MoCo Twitter channel. A good starting point, if you dont know what to take, try this.
Here is the PDF file .
However, I think some critical items are missing. I would add some rope, matches, lighter, tent, field mess kit, few bottles to carry water, water purification tablets and some high calorie edibles. Maybe also a book about camping and survival related topics. With these addons you could sleep where ever your journey takes you, and have shelter, fire, clean water and warmth.
Also consider making a 12V charger adapter on your bike. Phone, GPS, camera batteries and anything can be charged from it, if you also buy a AAA/AA battery charger and some NiMH batteries for the camera etc. If possible, charge your devices while riding to save the bikes battery.

Highlights of the 2010 Harley-Davidson line include:
- As the new king of the Harley-Davidson Touring line, the Electra Glide(R) Ultra Limited model delivers the performance upgrade of a Twin Cam 103(TM) engine, and features standard equipment items previously offered only as accessories on regular-production Harley-Davidson Touring models.
- The new Road Glide(R) Custom model looks lean and mean, with a slammed suspension, 18-inch front wheel and a new 2-into-1 exhaust system.
- The Wide Glide(R) returns as an all-new Dyna(R) model done in old-school chopper style, with black laced wheels, a chopped rear fender, black “wire” sissy bar, 2-1-2 Tommy Gun exhaust and an optional flame paint scheme. Priced starting at $14,499, the Wide Glide is also a great new value.
- The new Street Glide(R) Trike brings stripped-down, hot-rod styling to the three-wheel category, and joins the Tri Glide(TM) Ultra Classic(R) in an all new Trike family for 2010.
- Dressed in satin chrome and denim black, the new Fat Boy(R) Lo presents a darker and lower interpretation of the motorcycle that still defines the fat-custom segment.
- The 2010 Street Glide(R) model gets even more hot-rod soul, with updates that include a larger front wheel, slimmed-down exhaust, and a new tail light assembly. Street Glide takes a classic Harley-Davidson Touring profile to a low, light and lean extreme.
- No motorcycle on the road today matches the modern street attitude of the three exciting models in the Harley-Davidson VRSC(TM) family: V-Rod(R), Night Rod(R) Special and V-Rod Muscle(R). The explosive performance of the liquid cooled Revolution(R) V-Twin engine keeps VRSC at the top of the power cruiser food chain in 2010.
- The American motorcycle legend that is Harley-Davidson Sportster(R) features six models for 2010, including the $7,999 Iron 883(TM) introduced mid-year 2009 and four others priced less than $10,000.
- Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations(TM) (CVO(TM)), masters of shimmering chrome and bold paint, offers four new limited-production models for 2010. The CVO Softail(R) Convertible is a versatile urban touring motorcycle, while the CVO Street Glide is a high-performance hot-rod bagger. The CVO Ultra Classic(R) Electra Glide(R) and CVO Fat Bob(R) models are refreshed for 2010 with new paint schemes and styling details. All CVO models are powered by a Twin Cam 110(TM) engine, the largest displacement V-Twin offered by Harley-Davidson.

The first Harley-Davidson motorcycle 1903

Click here for another bigger picture.
The first ever Harley-Davidson to be sold was made together in 1903. It had a 405 cubic centimeter, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with an F-head valve configuration. Development was carried out in a small shed in Milwaukee by William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson. They knew a german co-worker of theirs, Emil Kroger, who had knowledge of De Dion engines, also a mechanic named Ole Evinrude was involved in the process.

The very first bike with an engine in a bicycle frame couldnt climb the smallest hill, so it was back to the drawing board. This first power-bicycle had 116 cubic centimeters engine.
In 1903 they had a working machine that had a dedicated motorcycle frame and three horsepowers, it wasnt a bicycle anymore. It had 405 cubic centimeters engine. William A. Davidson, oldest of the brothers, was a toolroom foreman in a railshop, and it is likely that some of the parts were manufactured there.
The story goes that aunt of the Davidson brothers painted the HD logo and decoratives on the first motorcycles.
First documented appearance of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in history came 8th of september 1904, when their bike took 4th place in a motorcycle race. Three bikes were sold during 1904.

Troubleshooting a motorcycle:
Motorcycle engines, like all small engines, need 3 ingredients: spark, air and fuel. If one is missing it wont run. If you try to start your bike and nothing happens, check the position of the kill-switch, also some bikes require gear selector to be on neutral, or the kickstand to be up before they can be started. Some may require the clutch to be held in before they will start.
If nothing still happens, check the headlight if its dim, and press the horn, if it sounds weak. If so the battery probably is almost empty and need to be charged. Before you charge it, check battery terminal connections if they are loose. If you have a voltmeter, try measuring between battery terminals, it should be around 12.5 volts.
If the battery is charged full and you can see a good reading with the voltmeter, take a look at the fuses on the bike. Try replacing them and if one blows again, there a short somewhere on the bike.
If you can hear the starter motor spin normally but the bike wont start, its probably a spark issue or a fuel issue. If the bike coughs and almost starts, or runs for a second, its more likely a fuel delivery problem. If the bike is totally silent and doesnt even try to run, its more likely a spark plug issue.
At this point, do the obvious and check inside the fuel tank if there really is gas in it. You wouldnt be the first one.
Also if your bike has a kickstand switch or a neutral gear switch that are required to activate before startup, one of those may be faulty. These switchs can be bypassed with a wire.
Moisture is also one possibility for problems. Has the bike been in a hard rain or have you washed it with a pressure washer? Spray some moisture removing lubricant or WD-40 to the critical places, like kickstand kill switch, spark plug caps, or to the ignition switch.
Older bikes have a petcock between fuel tank and carburetor, check that it is in the right position. If you dont know the right position, try all positions and rotate the engine. New bikes that have electrical fuel injection doesnt have a petcock, at least not all.
Most fuel injected bikes have electric fuel pump that runs a couple of seconds when the bike is turned on. Listen to the sound of it so you know how it sounds when it is OK. If it sounds weird then thats one thing to look for more.
A word of warning here: Fuel injected systems have very high fuel pressures, if you detach some lines or open something and dont know what it is, you may receive a very high pressure fuel injection onto and in yourself. Just dont touch the injector thing if youre not a trained mechanician.
One thing to try is to remove the spark plugs. If they are soaking wet with fuel, then the fuel is OK but there is no spark. Put the spark plugs back to their caps, and touch the engine case with the plug. Then crank the engine and if you see no blue sparks then replace the plugs. Another word of warning here: Be sure theres no spilled fuel on the engine case before you test the plugs, you may cause a fire if you dont check it first. Dont do this if theres flammable materials next to the bike.
If none of this helps it probably is going to take a long time or a technician to make the bike run.

They have been causing problems to some people, me included (multiple times). XLForum has stories too about the subject, fixed exhaust pipe flanges making the bolt between cylinder and flange to break.
Stock pipes have a moving joint so there is no problem.
Have you had this problem and what have you done about it? Leave a comment.
Below is a picture of exhaust pipe with flexible flange.
